The 1000-MW nuclear power reactor unit-1 of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant has been restarted after a planned shutdown. The first reactor unit of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant has attained criticality (which, in simple terms, means start of controlled fission chain reaction) on January 21, 2016 after the completion of planned refueling shutdown and maintenance activities.
